Very atmospheric shot - the light and absence of life and the dark sky at the edges look ominous. It also has a slight feeling of the look of Top Gear when they test cars in these sorts of locations.

Your camera takes an ordinary scene and makes it dramatic. I love it.
I like how I can see allll the tiny details, cracks, and gravel on the road all the way up the hill.

With Nikon vs Canon it more depends on the price category of the cam than the brand, you won't notice much difference between those cams except for people who only like to look at pics at a 100% zoom.
